Batesville Area Historical Society They say history repeats itselfÉif so, weÕre lookin' good! The history of the Batesville area is rich, unique, and something its residents are very proud of. As a way to preserve this wealth of information and share with present and future generations, the Batesville Area Historical Society (BAHS) was created and strives to fulfill its mission via education and preservation.

The centerpiece of the Society is its Museum, recently opened to the community to showcase thousands of items, photos, and pieces of history that represent the best that Batesville was, is, and will continue to be. Because a good thing is meant to be shared, you are invited to visit the Museum to browse, recollect, question, and converse about the people, places, and happenings that are woven so intricately into the area that many lucky residents call home.
Batesville Chamber of Commerce Batesville, conveniently located between Indianapolis IN, Cincinnati OH and Louisville KY, gives people "small town living" within an hours drive of three major metropolitan areas.

Our community was built around the hardwood trees in the area, and many businesses still make use of this wood. We have a wood carving shop, a furniture company, and a Fortune 1000 company. These are in addition to our unique and quaint specialty shops, manufacturers, and service businesses. Any item on your list or any needed service is available right here.

The rural setting gives way to plenty of recreation. You have the choice of golfing on fantastic links, biking or walking through our wonderful parks or boating and fishing in surrounding lakes. We also have a top-rate library and full-service YMCA. The housing market ranges from affordable to executive level homes.

Our schools and healthcare facilities are top of the line. For the past several years, the Batesville schools have been selected as one of the Indiana Chamber's Best Buys in Education. Our hospital completed yet another expansion, the Hanson Oncology Center, increasing the medical services available.

We have 5 dual zip lines, a Burma Bridge, two canopy zips in the trees and a belay at the end. Our course spans 23 acres of the 80 acre farm and the zip line covers 10 football fields of airline cable. Come out for a couple of hours and enjoy the piece and quiet of nature. Fly through the trees and relax. You might find the best way to hold on is to let go. COME FLY WITH US!

Historic Downtown Rising Sun, Indiana Welcome to Historic Downtown Rising Sun.
Our office is located on the corner of Walnut and Main Street, one of the major intersections in town. Which if you are not familiar with Rising Sun, it's just a flashing red light. If you want to know Rising Sun in the terms of street lights, we only have two intersections with flashing red lights, none of those fancy ones with three colors here.
But don't let our small townness fool you. We have amazing artists here, fabulous restaurants, quaint stores, good people, and if that was not enough we are located on the beautiful Ohio River. Plus, we are the home to Grand Victoria Casino which is a stone throw away from our Main Street.

Ohio County Historical Society Established in 1968, the Ohio County Historical Society opened its museum in 1972. Housed in a 19th century plow factory, most of the contents have been donated by Ohio County residents, their families, and friends. Displays focus on the 1800's and early 20th century life and events. Included in the displays is an AUTO-HARP, the first coin-operated music player.
The best known item in the collection is the racing boat, HOOSIER BOY, famous raceboat of the early 1900's. The boat holds the record between Cincinnati and Louisville, round trip, at 60 mph. It was designed, built and raced by J. W. Whitlock of Rising Sun.
